Thanks for joining me! I have had a love affair with collecting and American antiques for decades, reveling in the successes, enjoying those I have met, and engaging in the “hunt” for that special piece. Living in Wisconsin makes trips East special. This website is an outgrowth of my book, Come Collect With Me: Musings on Collecting and American Antiques published in 2019.
Writing for Maine Antique Digest I found my previous life (I am now retired I admit) as both a college professor and a practicing clinical psychologist served me well in observing and making sense of the collecting world. What a cast of characters. The thrill of a great buy, the agony of missing out. Collecting is truly a human endeavor, and that quality makes it so very interesting.
I also saw the need for what I call an “Antique Whisperer.” With whom does a collector talk about purchasing a piece – its style and connoisseurship, its price, one’s love for it. Having a listening ear about decisions collectors make would have been useful for me on many occasions. I will share dilemmas and questions, and my answers as one collector to another. Email me if you are in need of an Antique Whisperer.
I also will share observations on what I experience and read in collecting American Antiques and hope you join me.
