An Adventure

I am about to embark on a collecting adventure. I will have more to say about adventures in the future so bear with me. This adventure is attendance at a high-end antique show – the Delaware Antique Show to be exact. The adventure is not the traveling from the Midwest to Philadelphia and then Delaware. Commercial air travel is more like combat than an adventure.

The adventure is that in all my years of collecting I have never been to a high-end show. I know, I should have done so years ago. But it never seemed to work out and Antiques Week in Manchester satisfied me for some time. I was determined this year, however, and with travel plans made, and checkbook in hand, I am curious to see what high-end translates as.

I already have one clue. I have been told I need not be in line several hours before the show opens on Friday (I am forsaking the Thursday evening soiree if you will). I also have been told that many dealers whose booths I have frequented at Antiques’ Week shows will be holding forth, although their wares may be higher end with prices to match. And that some of the “ancillary” booths, jewelry and the like also will be higher end.

I shall report back at a later date. It will be fun. Let’s see if I fall in love and find something I cannot live without. Stay tuned.
